We are happy to announce that SustainCERT has been approved as a verifier by the Global Carbon Council (GCC). We are very grateful to GCC for their approval, and look forward to adding GCC to our verification services.
This approval follows a vigorous process which began following our initial application in March 2024.
SustainCERT will offer validation (referred to as project verification by GCC) and verification (emission reduction verification) services for GCC projects under all scopes offered by GCC, which are:
In addition to these scopes, two GHG sectoral scopes are included in our recognition– Energy Industries (renewable and non-renewable sources), and Energy Demand.
By adding these GCC verification services to our offering, it once again demonstrates our ambition to scale our digital platform by continuing to add validation and verification services across a range of internationally recognized standards and programs.
On their website, GCC describes themselves as “the first international carbon credit and sustainable development program, based in the Global South”. It was established (as Global Carbon Trust) by the Gulf Organization for Research and Development (GORD) in 2016.
The GCC develops standards, rules and procedures for GHG reduction projects, and issues carbon credits for approved and independently verified projects. They ensure carbon projects don’t cause any net-harm to the environment or society in general, with a preference towards projects which contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
