About the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM)
The Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) is a bilateral carbon market initiative led by the Government of Japan and partnering countries to facilitate the diffusion of leading low-carbon technologies and to contribute to sustainable development. Japan and Indonesia are aiming to use JCM as part of Article 6 of the Paris agreement. Under the JCM, verified emission reductions can be credited and used to meet climate commitments, with third-party entities like SustainCERT playing a vital role in ensuring environmental integrity.
