Following our initial accreditation with the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) in July 2023, SustainCERT is pleased to announce a scope expansion with the addition of two new scopes – Livestock and Waste Handling and Disposal. Recognition of our competence in these scopes will allow us to expand our VERRA VCS services offering.
Some of the projects that could fall under these scopes include, but are not limited to:
Large-Scale Recycling Programs (Waste Handling and Disposal): These projects will often have objectives including reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills, improving material recovery, and reducing emissions related to raw material extraction.
Waste-to-Energy Facilities (Waste Handling and Disposal): In these projects, systems are developed to convert non-recyclable waste into energy, using such processes as incineration, anaerobic digestion, or gasification.
Manure Management Systems (Livestock): By implementing advanced manure handling technologies such as anaerobic digesters, methane emissions from livestock manure are captured and can be converted into biogas for energy.
Improved Feed Practices (Livestock): These projects focus on optimizing livestock feed to reduce enteric fermentation, therefore lowering methane emissions directly produced by animals such as cows, sheep, goats, deer, or buffalo.
These are just some examples of the type of project that are possible, with SustainCERT able to offer validation and verification services on a wide range of relevant projects in the voluntary carbon market.
If you are interested in working with SustainCERT on any of the project scopes mentioned above, or any of the other broad range of services we offer, please get in touch with our team.
